Two Days before the End of Carnival 2026, About 70 Tons of Waste are Collected in Rio Branco
Approximately 70 tons of waste were collected from Rio Branco during the Carnival celebrations over a three-day period.
In the lead-up to the conclusion of Carnival 2026, Rio Branco has seen significant waste collection efforts, with approximately 70 tons of refuse being cleared between Friday (13) and Sunday (15). The figures were released by the Municipal Secretary for City Care (SMCC), highlighting the extensive cleanup operations undertaken during this festive period. Cleanup teams of ten workers were deployed to maintain cleanliness in the city, particularly in public spaces frequented by revelers.
On the first night of the festivities alone, about 20 tons of waste were removed from the areas where Carnival celebrations took place, emphasizing the large volume of refuse typically generated during such events. The cleaning operations aim to minimize the environmental impact of the celebrations and ensure that the city remains clean and inviting both for participants and residents.
The ongoing efforts to collect waste during the Carnival illustrate the city's commitment to managing the environmental challenges posed by large-scale public events. With further celebrations expected before the end of the Carnival, continued attention to sanitation will be critical in maintaining public health and safeguarding the urban environment.
