Storm around the "NowRocky" brand. There is action from the prosecutor's office
The prosecutor's office in Gdańsk has initiated proceedings regarding the 'NowRocky' brand due to potential trademark violations.
The Gdańsk District Prosecutor's Office has filed a motion to the Municipal Police Command regarding the activities of the company "NowRocky". This action aims to consider whether to initiate proceedings for a misdemeanor based on Article 308 of the Industrial Property Law. The article delineates penalties for anyone who introduces goods marked with a trademark in a way that could mislead consumers into believing these goods are protected by such rights.
The brand's distinctive logo is noted to be registered with the Patent Office and was trademarked in November 2025 by Nina Nawrocka, the sister of the president. Currently, "NowRocky" is using the symbol R within a circle, which is reserved for registered trademarks. However, the company may be in violation because it is still in a transitional phase during which it should not utilize this trademark designation.
This investigation not only raises questions about trademark regulations but also casts a shadow over the association of a brand with prominent political figures. The situation may have broader implications for the perception of both the "NowRocky" brand and its connections to the president, as well as the legal frameworks governing trademark usages in Poland.
