Cattle meat exports in MT register the largest volume in history in 1 month

Mato Grosso set a record for cattle meat exports in January, shipping 83.06 thousand tons, marking a 53.18% increase from the previous year.

In a remarkable achievement, Mato Grosso has reached an all-time high for cattle meat exports, registering 83.06 thousand tons shipped in January. This data, made public by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), highlights the state's significant role in the meat production sector. The weight of the exports is measured in Equivalent Carcass Tonnes (TEC), which standardizes the weight of beef and allows for easy comparison of different meat products, including bone-in, boneless, and processed cuts.

This record volume signifies a 53.18% increase compared to the same month last year, a notable jump in the state's export metrics. Additionally, the revenue generated from these exports surged to $356.45 million, reflecting a 68.02% rise year-on-year. This growth is attributed not only to the increased volume of exports but also to the appreciation of the average price of beef, which rose by 9.69%, reaching $4,291.52 per ton.

The implications of this record performance are significant for Mato Grosso's agricultural economy, showcasing its capacity to meet both domestic and international demand for beef. The rise in export figures presents an opportunity for the state to further enhance its position in the global meat market, potentially attracting more investments and prompting discussions on sustainability and trade practices in the meat industry.
