Lucknow: The hassle of standing in line for metro tickets is over, this facility has started

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has launched a QR-based ticketing system to simplify ticketing for Lucknow Metro travelers.

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has introduced a QR-based ticketing system to enhance the user experience for passengers traveling on the Lucknow Metro. The system was inaugurated by UPMRC's Managing Director, Sushil Kumar, at the Hazratganj Metro station. Passengers can now book QR tickets through the official Lucknow Metro mobile app, ticket vending machines (TVM), and ticket counters, significantly reducing the inconvenience of waiting in long lines for tickets.

Passengers booking through the mobile app will receive tickets in a digital format, while those opting for paper tickets can obtain them at the counters. Additionally, passengers can conveniently scan these tickets at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to enter and exit the stations. This new QR-based system not only streamlines the ticketing process but also provides travelers with various payment options, including UPI transactions at the new QR-supportive TVMs installed across all stations.

Moreover, the previous token-based ticketing system remains available as an alternative, ensuring that travelers have multiple options for purchasing tickets. This initiative by the Lucknow Metro administration aims to make public transport more accessible and efficient, addressing the needs of both tech-savvy passengers and those who prefer traditional ticketing methods. With these enhancements, the city of Lucknow takes a significant step forward in modernizing its metro services, aiming for greater passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency.
