As of October 23, 2024, Liepaja has fully implemented an electronic ticketing system for its public transportation. The initiative, which cost the municipal transport company approximately β¬339,000, aims to simplify the process for passengers, particularly those receiving state benefits who previously had to present proof of entitlement to the driver before boarding. This new system is expected to enhance the travel experience for citizens over the age of 80, who can now use public transport for free in Liepaja.
