Big Change in Railway Ticket Booking Starting March 1, Know the New Rule

Indian Railways will discontinue the UTS app starting March 1, 2026, and will offer all ticketing services through the new RailOne app.

Starting March 1, 2026, Indian Railways will phase out the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app to enhance passenger convenience. With the discontinuation of the UTS app, travelers will no longer be able to book unreserved tickets, platform tickets, or monthly season tickets via the old system. This shift aims to streamline the ticket booking process and improve user experience across modern platforms.

The newly introduced RailOne app is set to become the primary tool for all railway ticketing services, consolidating various functionalities onto a single platform. Users will be able to book both general and reserved tickets, track live train locations, check PNR status, manage refunds and cancellations, and access several other services all within the app. It offers an intuitive home screen with easy access to unreserved and platform ticket options, simplifying the booking experience for passengers.

The decision to discontinue the UTS app is in line with Indian Railways' vision to centralize ticketing operations within a single app for better efficiency and user engagement. As part of this modernization effort, the RailOne app will support multiple languages, including Hindi and English, catering to a diverse passenger demographic. The enhancements made through the RailOne app are expected to encourage more rail travel by making the process more user-friendly and informative for passengers, while also addressing customer service requests effectively.
