Bomb threats to courts and schools, threats spark chaos

Multiple states in India received bomb threat emails targeting schools and court premises, prompting extensive security operations even though most threats were found to be hoaxes.

On Monday, various states across India received threatening emails that warned of bomb attacks on schools, courts, and other institutions. In response to these threats, police forces, bomb disposal squads, and dog units were mobilized to conduct large-scale searches of the targeted locations. While the investigations revealed that the majority of the threats were hoaxes, significant security measures were taken, resulting in the evacuation of buildings to ensure public safety.

In Ahmedabad and Vadodara alone, over 15 schools were reportedly threatened, with emails specifying a blast warning at 1:11 PM and some referencing attempts to create Khalistan in India. Authorities conducted thorough searches at these schools, but nothing suspicious was discovered so far. Nevertheless, schools were closed as a precaution, and students were sent home to ensure their safety in light of the bomb threats.

The Cyber Crime unit is actively involved in the investigation, and Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi stated that the police commissioners of Ahmedabad and Vadodara have been instructed to treat all threats seriously. This incident underscores the ongoing concern about security threats targeting educational institutions and the need for robust measures to protect students and public spaces in the country.
