Carnival alters traffic with temporary blockades in Goiânia; see
Carnival festivities in Goiânia are causing temporary traffic disruptions due to blockades and diversions which will continue until February 17.
The Carnival celebrations in Goiânia are currently impacting local traffic with temporary blockades and detours that will remain in effect until February 17. The Municipal Traffic Engineering Department (SET) has implemented these measures to ensure the safety of both revelers and residents needing to navigate the city. Various local events, referred to as 'blocos', are set to take place across different central areas, including streets 8, Lazer, 3, and 4, as well as avenues Anhanguera and Goiás, until the designated end date.
Traffic agents have been deployed throughout the affected regions to help guide motorists toward alternative routes and minimize disruptions during peak times associated with the celebrations. Notably, the LGBT+ bloc, Esquenta, is expected to take place on February 17, beginning at 14:00. This procession will follow a specific route through Praça Tamandaré and surrounding streets, with the SET assuring that all traffic blockades will be released promptly after the parade concludes.
In addition to the current celebrations, the SET has announced potential traffic changes for Saturday, February 21, when at least two more blocs are scheduled to parade. This ongoing adjustment in traffic management highlights the city's proactive approach to balancing festive activities with the daily needs of its residents, demonstrating a commitment to safety and urban planning during significant local events.
