Belo Horizonte Carnival: traffic disruptions on the city's main streets; see maps
Belo Horizonte will experience traffic disruptions during Carnival due to street block parades, with special operations planned for specific routes.
During the Carnival celebrations in Belo Horizonte, significant traffic disruptions are expected as various street block parades take place throughout the city. Starting from Saturday (February 14, 2023), a special operation will be implemented in the central area to accommodate the 'Então, Brilha!' block. The gathering for this event is scheduled to begin early in the morning at 4 AM on the Avenida do Contorno, with designated routes leading to the main celebratory areas.
Throughout the Carnival period, which extends until Tuesday (February 17), there will be ongoing traffic interventions in multiple regions of the capital. Specific streets, such as Avenida Cristiano Machado, Avenida Antônio Carlos, and Avenida Nossa Senhora de Fátima, will have limited access, particularly affecting connections to significant local infrastructure such as the Viaduto Leste and the Viaduto Nansen Araújo. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the festivities.
Local residents and visitors are encouraged to plan their travel routes accordingly, considering the expected delays and changes to normal traffic patterns. The city has prepared detailed maps to guide attendees and help mitigate the impact of the closures, ensuring all participants in the Carnival can enjoy the events while managing the associated logistical challenges. This proactive approach aims to facilitate a vibrant and safe Carnival experience for everyone involved.
