A charity event is taking place in Washington to raise funds for Ukrainian communities affected by energy infrastructure damage due to the Russian invasion.
This month marks four years since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, prompting a charity initiative by Latvia's Public Media (LSM) in collaboration with 'Ziedot.lv' to support affected communities. From February 9 to 24, the event aims to gather donations specifically for generators, electricity, and heating supplies crucial for those in need due to destroyed energy infrastructure across Ukraine.
The charity event culminates in the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Andrew in Washington, which has served as a spiritual refuge and humanitarian assistance center since the onset of the Russian war. Attendees are encouraged to partake in the dayβs activities, which include warm soup, tea, and ice skating, all in the spirit of solidarity with their countrymen suffering from the effects of the war, including lack of heat and electricity.
Donations can be made via phone or online, with community engagement at the forefront to ensure resources reach those most impacted by the ongoing conflict.
