SP firefighters send team with underwater technology to help in the search for missing persons from the shipwreck in AM

The São Paulo government has dispatched a team to assist in the search for missing persons from the shipwreck of the Lima de Abreu XV in Manaus, Amazonas.

On Saturday, the São Paulo government sent a team from the Maritime Firefighters Group (GBMar) to provide technical support in the search for individuals missing from the shipwreck of the Lima de Abreu XV vessel that sank on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in the region of Encontro das Águas in Manaus, Amazonas, while the boat was carrying 80 passengers.

According to the Military Fire Brigade of Amazonas, 71 people were rescued alive; however, two fatalities were confirmed, including a three-year-old child and a 22-year-old woman named Lara Bianca. Seven individuals remain unaccounted for as search operations persist. The boat was located approximately 50 meters below the surface, prompting continuous efforts to find the missing passengers.

The São Paulo firefighters, who are utilizing advanced underwater technology, are actively involved in search operations alongside local authorities. Their expertise and resources are essential in enhancing the search efforts, showcasing collaboration between different states in Brazil during emergencies.
