Accident on the Ķekava bypass: assistance provided to 16 people, six hospitalized
A multi-car accident on the Ķekava bypass in Latvia involved eight vehicles, resulting in six people being hospitalized after receiving assistance on the scene.
On the morning of February 15, a serious accident occurred on the Ķekava bypass in Latvia, where eight vehicles were involved, leading to six individuals being hospitalized. The Emergency Medical Service reported that those injured were in stable condition. The incident took place along a section of the Bauskas highway (A7) between Katlakalns and the Riga bypass, closer to the Riga bypass.
The State Police confirmed the details, stating that among the eight vehicles, six were passenger cars and two were trucks. A significant aspect of the accident was that one of the trucks, a gas transporter, veered off the road and overturned, creating additional safety concerns due to a gas leak from the tank. Authorities indicated that the involvement of the State Environmental Service in addressing the aftermath of the accident was unnecessary.
Eyewitnesses have noted that the accident scene was complicated by thick fog reported that morning, along with bright sunshine, which may have contributed to the conditions leading to the crash. The police are likely to continue their investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision and whether weather conditions were a contributing factor.
