The Great Tricolor Will Not Be Raised at Vilnius TV Tower on February 16

Due to the risk of ice accumulation and falling icicles, the largest Lithuanian flag will not be raised at the Vilnius TV Tower this February 16.

Every year on the Day of Restoration of the State, the largest Lithuanian Tricolor flag, measuring 540 square meters, is raised at the Vilnius TV Tower. However, this year, the flag will not be hoisted due to significant ice buildup on the tower and the cranes, along with a high risk of falling ice. The decision was made after assessing the amount of ice on the TV tower's structures and the condition of the lifting mechanisms. Despite the absence of the flag, the tower will still honor the national symbol on February 16 by lighting up in the colors of the Tricolor in the evening, ensuring that the spirit of the celebration remains intact.
