Arson fire in stroller in the entrance of an apartment block in Oslo

An arson fire involving a stroller in an Oslo apartment block's entrance injured three residents who inhaled smoke.

A fire, which is suspected to be arson, occurred at an apartment block in Rødtvet, Oslo, after a stroller was set on fire in the entrance hall. Emergency services including police and firefighters arrived at the scene quickly after reports of smoke on the fifth floor. Many residents managed to evacuate themselves before the fire crews arrived. Firefighters utilized smoke divers to control the situation, which predominantly affected the entrance stairway rather than individual apartments.

The operations leader, Per-Ivar Iversen from the Oslo Police District, indicated that the fire was traced back to the stroller in the common area, and authorities confirmed it was an intentional act. While firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, they also dealt with substantial smoke that had spread into the building, affecting not just the entrance but also creeping into several apartments above. The police's investigation has started to determine the motive behind this malicious act.

Three individuals who suffered from smoke inhalation were treated by paramedics at the scene, fortunately, with no severe injuries reported. Fire investigation units are expected to follow up, seeking any information or leads regarding the incident. The community is left shaken, raising concerns about safety in residential areas, especially regarding acts of vandalism and arson.
