Fire breaks out in stroller in hallway

A fire in a stroller in the basement of an apartment building in Nørresundby led to smoke damage in several apartments and the evacuation of residents.

A significant fire incident occurred on Monday evening in Nørresundby, Denmark, involving a stroller located in the hallway of an apartment building. The incident was reported by Nordjyllands Beredskab on social media and later covered by TV2 Nord. The fire originated from the stroller located under the stairs, which caused smoke to spread throughout the hallway of the building. Firefighters, deploying six vehicles and 15 personnel, promptly responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.

As a result of the smoke, multiple residents found themselves trapped and needed assistance through ladders and windows to evacuate safely. Reports indicated that all apartments sustained smoke damage, prompting the need for residents to be temporarily rehoused due to the uninhabitable conditions of at least five apartments. Furthermore, four individuals were transported to the hospital for evaluation related to smoke inhalation, illustrating the seriousness of the incident.

The fire service concluded their on-site operations late Monday night, while local authorities, including Nordjyllands Politi, were present to ensure safety and manage the situation. This incident raises concerns about fire safety measures in residential areas, particularly in communal living spaces, highlighting the importance of ensuring such facilities are equipped to handle emergencies effectively.
