Oslo: Fire in Residential Block

A fire broke out in a residential block in Rødtvet, Oslo, causing smoke inhalation for three individuals and is suspected to have been intentionally set.

Emergency services were called to a residential block in Rødtvet, Oslo, where a fire was confirmed to be burning on the 5th floor. The operation leader, Per-Ivar Iversen, reported significant smoke in the stairwell as firefighters entered the building with breathing apparatus. Shortly after the fire was reported, it was extinguished; however, heavy smoke remained in the stairwell and some apartments.

Three individuals experienced smoke inhalation and were attended to by ambulances on-site. According to police reports, the cause of the fire appeared to be arson, with a stroller in the communal stair area being set ablaze. The fire department began checking all apartments on the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors to ensure there were no further residents affected by the smoke or in need of assistance.

Rødtvet is a residential area located in the Grorud borough of Oslo. The police received reports of the fire at 10:52 PM on Saturday night, highlighting the quick response of emergency services in addressing the hazardous situation, despite the challenges posed by the smoke and initial fire.
