LIVE: Andžāne's final run in Olympic skeleton
Andžāne competes in the final run of Olympic skeleton, currently in 18th place before medal distribution.
In the final day of competitions leading to medal distribution, Latvian skeleton athlete Andžāne entered the decisive round ranked 18th, trailing the leader and World Cup champion by 2.04 seconds after two runs. The current leader is German athlete Floh, who faced slight pressure from her closest competitors, Krehere, Pfeifere, and Naize. All eyes were on Andžāne to see if she could improve her performance and secure a better finish in the top 20.
Before the crucial third run, Andžāne was advised by her coach, Ivo Šteinbergs, who expressed optimism about her ability to maintain the rhythm established in her earlier runs. Despite not achieving a faster time in the third run, Andžāne managed to retain her position within the top 20, advancing slightly closer to 17th place, just 0.11 seconds behind Canadian competitor Jane Shanless.
Additionally, another Latvian skeleton representative, Dārta Zunte, also maintained her 23rd position after a slow run, though she was unable to close the gap with nearby competitors. As the competition concludes, the focus remains on the performances of both athletes as they represent Latvia on the international stage.
