Latvian skeleton athlete Andžāne achieved the 19th best result in her first run, starting her second run with hopes of improving her standing in a competitive field.
Latvian skeleton athlete Andžāne participated in her second run during a live broadcast event, having started with number 21. In her first run, she managed to avoid major mistakes and finished with the 19th best time, trailing the leader by 1.15 seconds. This performance puts her in a challenging position as she aims to improve in the subsequent rounds.
The fastest time in the first run was recorded by Austrian competitor Janīna Floka, who finished in 57.22 seconds, closely followed by Germany's Sūzanne Krehere and Britain's Tabita Stēkere. Another notable mention is Dārta Zunte, who currently ranks 22nd and represents Estonia, having switched allegiance from Latvia prior to the Milan-Cortina Olympic cycle. The competition features 25 of the world's top skeleton athletes.
The athletes will conduct their second runs later on Friday, with live coverage available starting at 18:35. Medals will be awarded on Saturday, increasing the stakes for the competitors. Additionally, the men's skeleton athletes will compete in two decisive runs on Friday evening at 20:30, promising an exciting continuation of the event.
