Debutante Andžāne ranks 18th after her first skeleton run

Latvian skeleton athlete Andžāne made her debut in the competition with the 21st starting number. She completed her first run with no significant mistakes, achieving the 19th-best time and trailing the leader by 1.15 seconds. This performance puts her in 18th place overall as rankings are updated after the first round.
The fastest time in the first round was recorded by Austrian athlete Janīna Floka, who clocked in at 57.22 seconds. Following her, German skeletonist Sūzana Krehere finished just two hundredths of a second slower, while British competitor Tabita Stēkere secured third place, finishing just 0.18 seconds behind the leader. Another notable competitor, Dārta Zunte, who chose to represent Estonia instead of Latvia for this Olympic cycle, is currently in 22nd place.
The competition features 25 of the world's best female skeleton athletes, with the second round set to take place later on Friday. Viewers can catch the live coverage starting at 18:35, with medal distributions scheduled for Saturday. Additionally, men's skeleton racers will compete in critical heats on Friday evening, promising an exciting series of events ahead.
