Due to recent improvements in weather conditions, the Estonian Transport Agency, in collaboration with its partners, has announced the opening of this year's second official ice road leading to Kihnu. The ice road, which stretches a total of 12 kilometers, will allow vehicles weighing up to 2.5 tons to traverse it safely, marking a significant seasonal event for local transportation. This opening follows the establishment of other similar ice roads in the region, such as the one connecting Hiiumaa and Saaremaa islands.

The Kihnu ice road will only be available for use during daylight hours, specifically from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, reflecting usual safety regulations for ice roads in Estonia. This time window ensures that vehicles can travel safely given the changing conditions of the ice surface, which can be affected by temperature fluctuations and other weather phenomena.
