No trace of spring. A wave of severe frosts is coming

Following unusually warm days in Poland, a significant drop in temperatures is expected, leading to widespread frost and snowfall across the country.

After experiencing the warmest day of the year on Thursday, where temperatures reached 13-14 degrees Celsius in regions like Małopolska, Poland is bracing for a drastic change in weather conditions. Friday saw relatively mild temperatures in many areas, but the first signs of an impending cold snap were evident in the northern parts of the country, where temperatures started to approach zero and snow began to fall in Pomorze.

Forecasts from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) indicate that widespread frost will set in by Saturday, remaining throughout the day. In the Suwałki region, temperatures could plummet to around -6 degrees Celsius, while the southern parts of Poland may still experience positive temperatures ranging from 4 to 6 degrees. The peak of this cold spell is anticipated on Sunday and Monday, when negative temperatures are expected to cover the entire country, particularly impacting the northeastern areas where the cold will be most severe.

This abrupt shift in weather may have various implications, affecting agriculture, transportation, and daily activities as Poles prepare for another harsh winter chill after a brief taste of spring. Given the variability of spring weather patterns and the potential impact of climate change, these temperature fluctuations call into question the stability of seasonal weather norms in Poland.
