Snowstorms and severe frost. The forecasters do not have good news for Poles

Poland is expected to experience severe cold and snowstorms, especially in the Bieszczady region, over the coming weekend with temperatures potentially dropping to -20°C.

According to predictions by the IMGW, Poland will face a gradual cooling starting from the northeast, with temperatures expected to plummet to as low as -20 degrees Celsius in some areas during the weekend. This significant drop in temperature will be accompanied by intense snowfall, particularly in the Bieszczady mountains, raising concerns about winter conditions across the country.

Initially, on Friday, much of Poland will still enjoy temperatures above freezing, ranging from 1 to 6 degrees Celsius, except for the northern regions, where it may dip to -1°C. However, warnings have been issued for a notable temperature drop overnight from Friday to Saturday, potentially leading to icy conditions, which will pose risks to both drivers and pedestrians due to slippery roads and sidewalks.

The arrival of Arctic air masses on Saturday, February 14, will further exacerbate the cold. With the combination of freezing temperatures and snowfall, the situation could develop into dangerous winter weather, marking a stark change from the milder conditions Poles have experienced recently. Citizens are advised to take precautions as these conditions could significantly affect daily activities and transportation.
