After strong frosts, snowstorms are coming. Where will conditions be the most difficult?
Poland is expecting heavy snowfall and slippery conditions across various regions in the coming days due to a persistent low-pressure system.
According to the latest forecasts from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in Poland, parts of the country will experience challenging weather conditions with intense snowfall and icy roads expected in the upcoming days. This warning comes on the heels of strong frosts gripping Europe, leading to concerns about the transportation safety in affected areas. Various regions will be at higher risk, specifically impacting drivers and other road users.
The Polish meteorological agency, IMGW, has issued multiple alerts regarding icing in several provinces including Lower Silesia, Lubusz, Łódź, Małopolska, Opole, Silesia, Świętokrzyskie, and Greater Poland. By Wednesday, these conditions are also predicted to extend to Subcarpathia, with Thursday seeing the most slippery conditions in that area. Daily temperatures are forecasted to range from a chilling -9 degrees Celsius in Podlasie, to a milder 3 degrees in Lower Silesia, contributing to these hazardous weather conditions across the country.
As this low-pressure system persists over Poland, it is expected to bring cloudy skies alongside heavy snowfall in many areas. On Tuesday, nearly the entire country will see snowfall, with rain mixed with snow occurring in the southwest. The forecast emphasizes the need for caution and preparedness as motorways and rural roads are likely to become hazardous due to the accumulating snow and freezing temperatures, marking a significant weather event for Polish citizens in the coming days.
