The Grand Return of Snow. We Know Where the Most Will Fall. Beware of Dangerous Phenomena, Warn Meteorologists

Czech meteorologists predict a significant snow event this weekend, with the most accumulation expected in areas like Ostrava, Šumava, and Krkonoš.

The Czech Republic is set to experience a new wave of snowfall this weekend, reversing the recent trend of milder winter weather. After a week of rising temperatures that saw highs of nine degrees Celsius, a strong temperature drop is expected on Saturday, bringing daily temperatures below freezing by Sunday. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) anticipates that snow accumulation will be most significant in Ostrava, while other regions such as Šumava and the Krkonoš Mountains will also see snowfall.

Despite Friday's mild temperatures, which will feature rain in northern Bohemia and some sunshine in the south, a severe temperature shock is imminent. Saturday morning will see temperatures around zero, with a slight rise to four or five degrees in the afternoon before plummeting in the evening. Along with this drop, snowfall is forecasted, with at least one centimeter expected to blanket the entire country.

In anticipation of the deteriorating weather conditions, ČHMÚ has issued warnings for ice and snow from Saturday evening through to Sunday morning, affecting not only Silesia but also other regions of the Czech Republic. The public is being urged to take precautionary measures to avoid hazards associated with icy and snowy weather, emphasizing the need for awareness during this sudden shift in winter conditions.
