Snowstorm Hits All of Czechia. We Know When Thaw Will Arrive
A significant snowstorm has covered all of Czechia over the weekend, with warnings of icy conditions and a forecasted thaw later in the week.
A new layer of fresh snow fell across Czechia over the weekend, prompting meteorologists to predict continued snowfall until Wednesday. Following this period of snow, temperatures are expected to drop further on Thursday and Friday before a significant thaw begins over the weekend, with daytime temperatures possibly reaching up to ten degrees Celsius. Such changes indicate a rapid shift in weather patterns that can impact local travel and daily activities.
On Monday, meteorologists issued a warning for icy conditions, which is valid until Tuesday evening for all of Moravia and southeastern Bohemia. Another alert remains in effect for the Karlovy Vary region due to substantial snowfall expected until Monday afternoon. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) has noted that snow accumulation in western Bohemia could reach between five to ten centimeters by early afternoon, particularly affecting areas in the northeastern part of Czechia.
As snow continues across most regions until Wednesday, the high temperatures in the coming days are projected to stay around three to four degrees Celsius during the day, while nighttime temperatures may drop significantly below freezing. Such weather fluctuations may pose risks for transport and outdoor activities, highlighting the need for precautions as citizens prepare for both the heavy snow and the anticipated thaw.
