A school bus carrying around 20 children got stuck in a hole and nearly tipped over in Marituba, Pará, due to poor road conditions.
A school bus with approximately 20 children got stuck in a hole during the morning of Thursday, the 12th, on Rua dos Navegantes in the Riacho Doce neighborhood of Marituba, located in the Metropolitan Area of Belém. A video circulating on social media captures the moment the bus tilts as it falls into a ditch on the road. The vehicle, belonging to the Municipal School Santo Amaro, struggled to navigate due to the road's poor condition, which local residents have reported as being hazardous for children's daily transportation.
Residents expressed their concerns about the state of Rua dos Navegantes, highlighting that the numerous holes on the road pose a daily risk for the safe transport of students. Following the incident, the Marituba City Hall stated that an assistance team was called promptly to help remove the bus from the hole, which they managed to do within a few minutes. Fortunately, no students or staff were harmed in the incident, and all involved were reported to be doing well.
However, the municipal administration has not indicated whether any measures will be taken to repair the roadway on Rua dos Navegantes, leaving parents and community members worried about the ongoing safety of school transport.
