School Bus Catches Fire During Student Transport in PB
A school bus caught fire while transporting students in Caturité, Paraíba, with no injuries reported.
On Thursday morning, a school bus caught fire in Caturité, a city in the Cariri region of Paraíba, while carrying students from the rural area of the municipality. The incident was triggered by an electrical failure in the vehicle, which led to noticeable smoke before flames engulfed the bus. At the time of the fire, there were 40 students on board, but the prompt actions of the driver allowed for the safe evacuation of all students without any injuries.
Local authorities confirmed that the Caturité Municipal Prefecture received the first reports about the incident and indicated that the bus had undergone a recent maintenance check. Despite the quick response from the driver to evacuate the students, help from the Fire Department could not arrive in time due to the distance from Campina Grande. Consequently, the fire resulted in the total loss of the vehicle.
The Caturité Municipal Prefecture assured the public that all safety procedures had been followed and noted the importance of proper vehicle maintenance to prevent such incidents in the future. This incident raises awareness regarding the transportation safety of students, particularly in rural areas, where response times for emergency services can be critical.
