Daugavpils plans to increase its budget by 7.6 million euros
The Daugavpils city council approved budget amendments increasing the budget by 7.6 million euros, aimed at funding development projects.
During a meeting of the Financial Committee, the representatives of the Daugavpils City Council supported amendments to the 2026 budget, resulting in an increase of 7.6 million euros allocated for various development projects. These amendments focus on the enhancement of education, recreation and culture, housing, and road infrastructure within Daugavpils. The additional funding is derived from last yearβs budget surplus, which resulted from the optimization and reorganization of municipal structures and the improvement of various processes, as noted by the local municipality.
This year's total budget for investments amounts to 24 million euros, comprising municipal funding, contributions from the State Road Fund, European Union financing, and borrowed funds. The city has been undergoing reforms aimed at optimizing expenses, restructuring municipal frameworks, and enhancing governance efficiency.
