The Jelgava City Council is set to approve a budget of 146,782,938 euros for the year 2026, which translates to approximately 2,475 euros allocated per resident based on the city's population of 59,303 as of January 1, 2025. This budget reflects an increase in funding per capita compared to 2025, which was 2,257 euros. Tax revenues constitute a significant portion of Jelgava's budget, accounting for 45.8% of total revenues. The municipality anticipates an increase in tax revenue for 2026, estimating it to be 67,279,697 euros, which represents an increase of 4,273,981 euros compared to the revised tax revenue plan for 2025.
