‘Price Collusion’ in Hanam Apartment Investigation Expanded... Gyeonggi Province Goes All Out Against Real Estate Illegality
Gyeonggi Province has expanded its investigation into a price-fixing scandal involving a Hanam apartment complex, targeting all participants in the price collusion scheme.
Gyeonggi Province has announced the expansion of its investigation into a recent case of price collusion detected in an open chatroom linked to an apartment complex in Hanam city. The investigation revealed that participants in a KakaoTalk chatroom conspired to set a price floor of 1 billion won for apartment listings, cooperating to suppress listings below this threshold by filing complaints or threatening real estate agents who did not comply. The Fair Special Detective Unit of Gyeonggi Province planned to send four key organizers to prosecutors but has since widened its focus to include all contributors following instructions from Governor Kim Dong-yeon, who emphasized a thorough investigation into illegal real estate activities.
