Army reschedules screening for children of fallen soldiers
The Nigerian Army has announced a rescheduling of the screening exercise for children of deceased personnel under its Education Sponsorship Scheme for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Nigerian Army has recently announced a change in the schedule for the Screening and Verification Exercise aimed at children of deceased soldiers under its Education Sponsorship Scheme. Initially set to take place from February 2 to March 6, the exercise has been postponed and will now run from February 9 to March 13, 2026, across Nigeria. This rescheduling is intended to facilitate a more organized and accessible experience for participants involved in the process.
The announcement was made through a statement from Major Yemi Sokoya, the Assistant Director of Public Relations at Headquarters 13 Brigade. The statement further clarifies that for beneficiaries within the 82 Division area, the screening will occur at Headquarters 82 Division in Enugu from February 14 to 17, 2026. The Army has made it clear that all stakeholders, especially eligible beneficiaries from Cross River State, need to adhere to these new dates for participation in the event.
This rescheduling of the screening is significant as it aims to provide educational support to the children of fallen soldiers, reflecting the Nigerian Army's commitment to the well-being and future of these families. By ensuring that the process is streamlined and well-organized, the Army seeks to improve the efficacy of the program, which is crucial for aiding the educational pursuits of these children, as they navigate their studies while coping with the loss of their parents.
