Govt begs Delta youths to join military

The Delta State Government is urging eligible youths to apply for admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy as part of efforts to increase the state's representation in the military.

The Delta State Government has officially opened the application portal for the 78th Regular Course intake at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and is encouraging eligible indigenes to apply. The appeal was made public through a statement from the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe. The government emphasizes that qualified individuals from Delta State should take this opportunity to join the military, framing it as a prestigious career path.

This initiative is also part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing the representation of Delta State within the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Oghenesivbe highlighted the NDA's comprehensive training programs which are aligned with the objectives of the MORE Agenda, an employment generation and wealth creation initiative led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. This step signals a commitment from the state government not only to bolster military representation but also to promote educational and career opportunities for its youth.

Furthermore, the government's push for increased military involvement can be interpreted as a proactive measure to engage young Deltans in national service amidst a backdrop of security challenges facing Nigeria. By calling on youths to seize this opportunity, the Delta State Government aims to foster a sense of duty and patriotism while also addressing the issue of youth unemployment in the region. As the application window is now open, both the state government and the NDA hope to see a significant turnout from potential applicants during this intake period.
