Recife, Brazil, has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in a relay perfume application event, surpassing the previous record held by Saudi Arabia.

Recife has added another feather to its cap by setting a unique Guinness World Record for the largest number of participants in a relay perfume application. The event took place on the 11th of October, right at the feet of the iconic Galo Gigante sculpture, a symbol of the city's famous Carnival. A total of 320 participants gathered along the Duarte Coelho Bridge in the central area of the city, breaking the previous record of 282 participants from Saudi Arabia established in 2025.

The relay challenge unfolded over 22 minutes and 20 seconds, with participants seated along the bridge and taking turns to spray perfume on one another. Each participant was required to spritz their neighboring teammate three times with the fragrance, creating a fun yet competitive atmosphere. The event was closely monitored and certified by representatives from Guinness World Records, who verified the record-breaking achievement and presented a commemorative plaque to the city of Recife.

This accomplishment not only highlights the vibrant and festive spirit of Recife, especially during its carnival season, but it also showcases the city's ability to innovate and create memorable experiences for its citizens and visitors alike. By entering the Guinness Book, Recife further cements its status on the global stage as a city of celebration and joy, heralding this quirky achievement as part of its cultural identity.
