Carreta da Mulher Pernambucana offers free exams in Terra Nova
The Carreta da Mulher Pernambucana is providing free specialized health services to women in Terra Nova, Pernambuco, including various medical examinations.
The Carreta da Mulher Pernambucana, a mobile health unit, is set up in Terra Nova, located in the Sertão region of Pernambuco, to offer free medical services to women. It will be stationed at Praça São Sebastião on the 12th and 13th of October, operating from 8 AM to 5 PM. The initiative aims to enhance access to women's health services in this region, which can often lack adequate healthcare facilities.
The services available include mammograms, breast ultrasounds, colposcopies, and biopsies for breast lumps and cervical lesions. Additionally, consultations with specialists, including a mastologist and a gynecologist, will be provided. Women aged 40 or older can receive a mammogram without needing a doctor's referral, although younger women must have a referral if they exhibit symptoms, such as lumps in their breasts.
This program is crucial for promoting preventive healthcare among women in rural areas, who may not have regular access to such services. By requiring only basic documentation such as an ID, SUS card, and proof of residence, the initiative aims to remove barriers to healthcare access, thereby encouraging more women to take advantage of these important health screenings.
