Charis Doukas: "Health prevention starts from the neighborhoods of Athens"
A comprehensive network for cancer prevention and awareness is being established in Athens in collaboration with the Hellenic Cancer Society.
In Athens, a significant new initiative for cancer prevention and awareness has been announced, spearheaded by Mayor Charis Doukas in partnership with the Hellenic Cancer Society (E.A.E.). The leaders signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that focuses on preventative measures, promoting health education, and offering tangible daily support to cancer patients and their caregivers. This initiative reflects an essential step for the local government towards enhancing public health resources.
Mayor Doukas emphasized the importance of community-level interventions stating, "Prevention starts from the neighborhoods of Athens." The program will provide free screenings, home support, and assistance for caregivers. By reinforcing the collaboration with the Hellenic Cancer Society, this initiative builds upon prior successes while committing to responsible public information, ultimately aiming for the early detection and treatment of serious illnesses.
E.A.E. President Evangelos Filopoulos also remarked on the significance of this partnership, underlining the vital role of social and health organizations in combating cancer. Through this collaboration, both parties aim to establish a stronger network for health education and preventative health measures within the local communities, proving that localized care can yield substantial benefits in managing health crises.
