Emergency weather bulletin: Two successive weather fronts on the way – Which areas will be affected
Greece's National Meteorological Service has issued an emergency weather bulletin warning of two successive atmospheric disturbances bringing severe weather conditions.
The National Meteorological Service of Greece has released an emergency weather bulletin with an orange warning for the public, indicating that two successive atmospheric disturbances are on the way. The first disturbance is expected to take effect from early evening today until the early hours of tomorrow, bringing heavy rains and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. The second disturbance follows late tomorrow afternoon and lasts until Friday morning, further intensifying the adverse weather conditions.
The first weather front will particularly impact the Ionian islands, starting from Lefkada and extending south, as well as the western Peloponnese and western Central Greece, with severe rains and thunderstorms expected from early evening today through early morning tomorrow. Other regions that are likely to be affected by severe weather include Crete, the Cyclades, and eastern Peloponnese during the night, along with eastern Macedonia and Thrace, especially on Thasos, Samothrace, and coastal inland areas up until tomorrow morning.
Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions due to the expected severe weather conditions. As such disturbances can lead to significant disruption, including flash flooding and strong wind damages, local authorities are expected to prepare for potential emergencies, ensuring the safety of the public and the integrity of essential services as adverse weather settles in.
