Severe Weather Bulletin: Heavy Rains and Storms Coming on Clean Thursday
Greece is expecting heavy rains and storms due to two successive atmospheric disturbances, as issued in an urgent weather bulletin by the National Meteorological Service.
The Greek National Meteorological Service has released an urgent weather bulletin warning of severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, expected due to two consecutive atmospheric disturbances. The first disturbance is forecasted to begin this evening and continue into the early morning hours of tomorrow, while the second is expected to follow from late tomorrow afternoon until early Friday morning (February 13).
The warning highlights specific regions that will be most impacted by the first disturbance, which includes the Ionian Islands from Lefkada southward, western Peloponnese, and western Sterea from tonight until early tomorrow morning. Additionally, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Crete, the Cyclades, and eastern Peloponnese during the night. Parts of eastern Macedonia and Thrace, particularly Thasos, Samothrace, and coastal areas, will also face severe weather until tomorrow morning.
With the second disturbance approaching, individuals living in the affected areas are advised to stay informed and take precautions due to the anticipated strong winds accompanying the heavy rainfall. This severe weather event not only poses immediate risks to physical safety but also raises concerns about potential flooding and infrastructure damage in these regions.
