Hankyoreh has received a commendation from the Korea Association of Legal Journalists for its continuous coverage of the allegations regarding former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Jun Jae-soo's monetary dealings with the Unification Church. The accolade was awarded to reporters Bae Ji-hyun, Kim Ga-yoon, and Kang Jae-goo. Earlier reports indicated that the Special Prosecutor's Team investigating allegations against Kim Geon-hee secured testimonies that money was also given to members of the Democratic Party from Yoon Young-ho, the former leader of the Unification Church, yet the investigation was not pursued further due to it not being considered a subject of examination.
