Messy vehicle skidded into a ditch – it created a mess
A military vehicle skidded into a ditch in Kouvola, Finland, late Tuesday night, but fortunately, the soldier driving it escaped without injury.
Late on Tuesday night in Kouvola, Finland, a military vehicle, locally referred to as a 'sotkuauto' or 'messy vehicle', skidded off the road and ended up in a ditch along Rämäläntie, approximately one kilometer from Highway 15. The vehicle was driven by a soldier from the Karelia Brigade, and at the time of the incident, there were no other passengers in the vehicle.
Fortunately, the soldier escaped the accident uninjured and managed to return to his unit at the Vekaranjärvi garrison later that evening. The incident attracted attention from emergency services, including an ambulance and police, who arrived on the scene to assist as needed. The soldier's safe return indicates that, despite the vehicle's predicament, the situation could have been far more serious.
The military vehicle, which was partially obstructing traffic after veering off the road, is scheduled to be recovered from the ditch and transported back to the garrison on Wednesday morning. This incident sheds light on the potential hazards associated with military operations in civilian areas, highlighting the importance of safety protocols for personnel during transport.
