Early Sunday morning, a car skidded off the road in Suomussalmi and ended up partially in the Peranganjoki river. There were four individuals in the vehicle at the time of the accident, but, according to the police, they were able to escape without injury. The police received a report about the vehicle's departure from the road near the boundary of Kuusamo municipality at around 6:30 AM.

The police stated that after skidding off the road, the car slid into the Peranganjoki river, with its rear end breaking through the ice. Fortunately, no personal injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Initial investigations suggest that the primary cause of the accident was the slippery condition of the road, which can be common during winter and early spring in Finland, posing a danger to drivers.
