Three Defense Forces vehicles in accident in Rovajärvi

Three military vehicles were involved in a traffic accident in Rovajärvi, Finland, but fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

On Friday morning, a traffic accident occurred in Rovajärvi involving two military trucks and one military passenger car. The accident took place at the intersection of Kemijärventie and Naarmantie, and a total of six soldiers were involved, four of whom were from the Maasotakoulu and two from the Jääkäriprikaati. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported following the incident, although emergency services attended to the scene to check on the participants.

The vehicles involved sustained severe damage; the trucks ended up in a ditch while the passenger car overturned onto its side. The presence of four rescue units from the Lapland rescue services and the Defense Forces was required at the scene, leading to the temporary closure of the road to facilitate the rescue operations. The emergency services ensured that the site was secured, and the vehicles were assessed for safety.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway by local police, aiming to determine the circumstances that led to this incident. Given the military nature of the vehicles involved, this event raises questions about road safety procedures and operational protocols for military personnel when utilizing public roads.
