A significant infrastructure project has been completed on Ignacio López Rayón Avenue in the Las Américas neighborhood of Mexico, featuring a 1.2-kilometer Safe Pathway equipped with 105 nine-meter tall posts and 192 light fixtures. This area had been in total darkness for 17 years, creating a sense of fear among residents who previously avoided the space due to safety concerns related to crime and vandalism. In addition to the Safe Pathway, community spaces are being revitalized, with a focus on family gatherings and recreational activities. Notable improvements have been made next to the municipal pool, where now-lit sports areas serve as venues for organized workshops and activities aimed at children and youth, under an initiative called 'Cambia de Cancha.'
