A pedestrian bridge on Las Américas avenue in Guayaquil has reopened for public use as final maintenance tasks are completed.

A pedestrian bridge located on Las Américas avenue in Guayaquil, in front of the Convention Center, has been reopened for citizen transit while final maintenance work is still ongoing. The maintenance involved applying concrete to the surface of the bridge and the ramps leading to the Metrovía station. Remaining tasks include painting the metal structure and general cleaning to ensure safety and aesthetics for users.

The local municipality announced that this work is part of a larger plan to rehabilitate 15 pedestrian bridges across the city, with eight already completed. The initiative aims to enhance pedestrian safety and improve overall infrastructure, reflecting a commitment to better urban planning and community welfare. The reopening of this bridge is aimed at relieving pedestrian traffic and improving accessibility in the area until the complete maintenance is finalized.

Future maintenance interventions will extend to other key locations, including sites near the 28 de Mayo school and at the general cemetery’s gates 3 and 8. The city plans to execute these interventions progressively to systematically address pedestrian safety concerns on busy thoroughfares, ensuring that improvements support the needs of the growing population in Guayaquil.
