KBO League 2026 Season Players Registered: 621, Increase of 24 from Last Year
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced that a total of 621 players have been registered for the 2026 KBO League season, an increase of 24 from the previous year, with the introduction of an Asia quota playing a significant role.
On October 10, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) released the list of players registered for the 2026 season of the KBO League. A total of 621 players from ten teams were registered, marking an increase of 24 compared to the 597 players registered in 2025. This increase is attributed to the introduction of the Asia quota among other factors. Earlier this year, the KBO expanded the roster capacity from 65 to 68 players during its first board meeting, facilitating this growth in player registrations. Among the ten teams, the SSG Landers registered the highest number of players at 67, followed closely by the Hanwha Eagles with 64. The LG Twins and KIA Tigers each registered 63 players, while the Lotte Giants registered 62. The Samsung Lions and KT Wiz each had 61 registrations. Notably, this is the first time all ten teams have registered more than 60 players, reflecting a trend towards deeper rosters in the league. In terms of player positions, pitchers comprised the majority, totaling 317 and accounting for over half of the registered players. The LG and KIA teams registered the most pitchers, with 36 each, while Hanwha, SSG, Samsung, NC, and Kiwoom followed with 30 pitchers each. Additionally, a total of 52 rookie players have been registered for 2026, marking an increase from 48 in 2025, with pitchers again being the most represented among newcomers. The KBO also saw a growth in coaching staff registrations, increasing from 307 to 335, with KIA leading in coaching staff registrations due to a higher number of training coaches.
