“Don’t forget your umbrella” Snow and rain across the country… Beware of icy roads during the commute

On Tuesday, November 10, snow and rain are expected nationwide in South Korea, with accumulating snowfall and temperatures potentially dropping, raising health and safety concerns.

On November 10, South Korea is forecasted to experience snow or rain in various regions, prompting advisories from the weather authorities. As the precipitation begins, the perceived temperature may decrease, necessitating attention to health and safety. The Korea Meteorological Administration has predicted that snow and rain will start in Jeonnam and Jeju in the early hours and expand to areas including Seoul, Incheon, northern Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and parts of Chungnam, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongnam throughout the morning.

Accumulation estimates indicate that regions around the capital could see 1 to 3 cm of snow, while areas in Gangwon may receive between 1 to 5 cm. Rainfall predictions vary, with the capital seeing less than 5 mm of rain, with slightly higher amounts expected in other regions, including 5-10 mm in Jeolla and up to 15 mm on Jeju Island. The forecast also shows that temperatures will remain similar to the seasonal averages, with morning lows ranging from -7 to 3 degrees Celsius and afternoon highs between 3 and 9 degrees Celsius.

As temperatures are predicted to drop significantly during the night, the potential for icy roads and frost makes it critical for commuters to exercise caution while traveling. Additionally, in eastern regions, dry air combined with strong winds, with gusts reaching around 55 km/h in coastal and mountainous areas, raises concerns regarding fire safety. Fortunately, air quality is expected to be good to moderate across the country, although areas like Seoul and northern Gyeonggi may experience poor air quality levels later in the evening.
