The Oyo State Police seized a significant amount of illicit drugs, including Canadian loud and Indian hemp, during an operation in Ibadan.

Authorities from the Oyo State Police Command successfully intercepted a substantial consignment of illicit drugs in Ibadan. The operation, which resulted in the seizure of 101 wraps of a substance referred to as Canadian loud and nine bags of Indian hemp, was disclosed by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer. According to the statement released by the police, the drugs were found stocked in an apartment located on Abanise Street, in the Academy area of Olomi, Ibadan.

The police action was made possible through credible intelligence from strategic partners within the community. Olayinka stated that the intelligence indicated a suspect named Oluwadamilare was using the apartment for storage purposes. While the suspect remains at large, the police responded swiftly to confirm the information, deploying detectives to conduct a thorough search of the premises that led to the successful drug seizure.

This operation highlights the Oyo State Police's dedication to tackling drug-related crimes and the importance of community collaboration in policing efforts. The ongoing challenges of drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria make such operations critical in efforts to ensure public safety and reduce the influence of illegal substances in society. The police's continued focus on intelligence-gathering and proactive measures will be essential in maintaining law and order in the region, especially as they pursue leads on the fugitive suspect.
