Extended route from Quito airport to El Labrador: here are the circulation schedules
A new route has been added by the Reina del Quinche cooperative connecting Quito's Mariscal Sucre airport to El Labrador, enhancing public transportation access for residents in the surrounding valleys.
The Reina del Quinche cooperative has announced an extended bus route from the Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito to El Labrador, aimed at improving connectivity for residents of the valleys of Chill and Tumbaco. This initiative is designed to provide a direct link to Quito's Metro system, ultimately benefiting hundreds of local residents by enhancing their access to the capital city. The addition of this route highlights the cooperative's commitment to strengthening public transport and providing more efficient and reliable service.
Furthermore, this extension is part of a broader strategy to promote the use of public transportation while reducing environmental impacts associated with private vehicle use. Local authorities have emphasized the importance of creating interconnections between the outskirts of Quito and the city center, fulfilling demands from communities that have long sought better transport links. The route passes through neighborhoods such as Puembo, Tumbaco, and Cumbayá, which have seen increasing traffic and the need for improved accessible transport options.
The new service will operate on specific schedules to accommodate varying passenger needs. It will run from 04:45 to 22:00 on weekdays, from 05:00 to 23:00 on Saturdays, and varying hours on Sundays and public holidays. This new route not only aims to enhance transportation efficiency but also provides an environmentally friendly alternative for residents to migrate from private to public transportation options, thus fostering sustainable travel in the region.
