During the annual event of the Union of Police Officers of Attica on Saturday, the Greek Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, announced a plan to gradually strengthen police services in the Attica region with the addition of around 1,400 police officers. This initiative aims to enhance the effectiveness of police operations in the area, addressing growing concerns about public safety and crime rates. Chrysochoidis confirmed that the first batch of 600 officers would be deployed to various police stations across Attica in the spring, with an additional 800 officers set to join by autumn.

The announcement was made in front of several distinguished attendees, including the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Major General Dimitrios Mavliou, high-ranking officers, government ministers, members of parliament, and representatives from political parties and trade unions. The minister emphasized that the goal is to ensure that every police station in Attica is adequately staffed and capable of effectively tackling crime. The commitment to reinforcing police forces reflects the government's prioritization of public safety and community well-being amid increasing crime challenges in urban environments.

Chrysochoidis also pointed to the importance of having capable and commendable officers leading the various crime investigation units, as they play a crucial role in solving serious cases on a daily basis. By enhancing the workforce within the police department, the government aims to not only improve response times and law enforcement capabilities but also restore public trust in the police force, which is vital for maintaining order and security in the region.
