Estonian skier won two silvers at the veterans' World Championships

Estonian skier Rait Pallo won two silver medals at the World Veterans Cross-Country Skiing Championships held in Italy.

Rait Pallo, an Estonian cross-country skier, shone at the World Veterans Championships in Sappada and Forni Avoltri, Italy, winning two silver medals. The championships, which took place from January 29 to February 1, attracted nearly 1,000 athletes from 25 countries, competing across various events ranging from 5 km sprints to 30 km mass starts. Among the competitors were several former world champions and Olympic winners, highlighting the event's competitive nature.

Pallo's remarkable performances were in the classic style events, where he secured silver medals in both the 10 km and 30 km categories, facing tough competition. Merle Kale also represented Estonia well, finishing fifth in the 10 km classic race. Another notable competitor, Aivar Ridamäe, completed the 30 km free technique event, finishing ninth, demonstrating the strength of the Estonian team in the championships.

The event saw participation from many athletes, including Agur Alev, the father of competitor Alvar Johannes Alev, who contested in both the World Championships and the König Ludviglauf marathon in Germany. The Estonian delegation was led by Andres Häkkinen, who also served as a judge at the championships, underscoring Estonia's active involvement in international skiing events.
