New container shipping program by the University of Piraeus and MSC
A new training program titled 'Fundamentals of Container Shipping' has been announced by the Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Piraeus in collaboration with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company.
The University of Piraeus has launched a new training program entitled 'Fundamentals of Container Shipping' in partnership with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and the job market, providing relevant skills for aspiring professionals in the maritime industry. The program is set to commence on April 20, 2026, and will last for two months, comprising a total of 61 hours of synchronous learning and 147 hours of asynchronous training.
The curriculum encompasses critical areas such as container shipping operations, logistics, financial considerations, and regulatory frameworks, while also offering training in Microsoft Office tools. The program is supervised by Associate Professor Vassilios-Christos Naoum, who oversees the content to ensure it meets industry standards and prepares participants effectively. Upon completion of the program, participants will gain added value through the opportunity for interviews with MSC for entry-level positions, thereby enhancing their professional prospects in the booming shipping sector.
